All About Herbs and Edible Flowers

Learn about the basics of growing, harvesting and using culinary herbs and edible flowers. Start your plants from seeds, cuttings, transplants and divisions; integrate your herbs and flowers in your landscapes, vegetable gardens, and containers; maintain your plants with sustainable methods; harvest your herbs and flowers; preserve fresh herbs by drying and freezing, and other ideas on how to use your herbs and edible flowers will be covered. Presented by Kathy Fleming and Cindi Morris of the Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco Counties.

Presenter Master Gardener Kathy Fleming: Kathy has been growing culinary herbs in containers and perennial landscape at her Peninsula garden for more than 30 years. She uses the herbs and their flowers, either fresh and/or dried, and loves sharing with her friends and neighbors.

Presenter Master Gardener Cindi Morris: Cindi has had a love affair with gardening since she was young. Her father worked for Ferry Morse Seed Company, so she had plenty of seeds to play with. She loves growing from seed and found it fascinating how a small seed can turn into a beautiful plant. Cindi organized Master Gardener volunteers to grow 2,000 tomato plants for the Master Gardener Spring Market in 2015. Cindi enjoys growing and drying herbs to use in her cooking.

Our workshops have become very popular. To ensure a more pleasant experience for everyone please read the following:

  • On-time start:

Please plan on arriving a least 10 minutes early. We will hold your place until starting time. If you have not arrived by the published start time for the clinic we will begin seating our waiting list. We are sorry we cannot hold a spot for late-comers.

  • If you can’t make it:

Please do let us know by calling Sales at 650-364-1730 or email [email protected]

  • Extra folks:

Please make sure everyone in your party registers. Many of our clinics fill up fast and we often have a waiting list, so please understand if we canÕt add a spouse or friend at the last minute.

  • Children:

The content of our classes is for adults. Due to attention span, we discourage children from attending our classes, unless the class is specifically for children. If your child is a serious garden enthusiast and would enjoy sitting through a 1 1/2-2 hour lecture, please let us know when you register and we will gladly consider them for the class.
