Presenter Master Gardener Arete Nicholas is a Registered Nurse and an experienced Master Gardener who brings her passion for health and healing in the clinical setting to the garden settings under her watch. Arete graduated from the 2014 Master Gardening class and has an award-winning garden in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood. Her garden was featured on the 2014 and 2018 Noe Valley Garden Tour and also won second place in the 2014 San Francisco Flowercraft Great Garden Contest. She previously served for two years as Vice President and Speaker Series Committee Chair of San Mateo and San Francisco Counties Master Gardener program from 2015 to 2017. Her special interests are California native and pollinator plants and creating therapeutic gardens and sacred garden spaces in both healthcare and home settings. Arete received an M.A. in Gerontology and an R.N., B.S.N., and Ph.N. from San Francisco State University.
