Green waste generated by the professional landscape industry makes up approximately one-fourth of California’s solid waste stream. While significant progress has been made in diverting organic waste away from landfills and toward large-scale composting facilities, removing organic material from a landscape nonetheless represents the loss of a valuable resource. Properly processing and applying this material on site enhances the landscape by replenishing soil nutrients, building soil structure, and conserving water. In this presentation, we’ll explore strategies for integrating on-site composting and mulching practices into landscaping businesses, ultimately enhancing their efficiency and profitability.
