Prudent winter pruning is the best way to invigorate fruit trees in the home garden. We will demonstrate pruning techniques outside (via zoom) weather permitting.
In this overview/beginning class you will learn how to:
- Prune deciduous fruit trees
- Maximize tree health and fruit production,
- Identify dead, damaged and dying wood
Presenter Master Gardener: Kathleen Putnam
Kathleen Putnam is a professional organic vegetable gardener serving the Mid-Peninsula and is an ISA Certified Arborist. Kathleen has a degree in Environmental Horticulture from City College of San Francisco and is a UC Master Gardener. Kathleen’s passion is fruit trees and soil.
Presenter Master Gardener: Lisa Putnam
Lisa Putnam has a BS in Agricultural Economics from UC Davis and also studied nutrition science at Davis. She currently operates a small sustainable organic farm and orchard in Woodside and a home vegetable garden in Portola Valley. Lisa is a UC Master Gardener and Master Composter. Her passion is soil and compost.
